Beneath his seeming shyness, John has a wicked-sense of humour -- well capable of deflating the endemic poseurs of rock music. John is famous for the rumbling bass anchor notes that characterise Queen in full flow. It can come as no surprise that John loves Jimi Hendrix and soul music. In his own low key way, his contribution to the band has been immense. Queen are successful because each member of the band is free to pursue his own personal and musical interests. But as John exemplifies, the whole are greater than the parts.
