What's In?
Peter Freestone mentioned John
In his interview, Mr Freestone mentioned John (extract from BrianMay.com):
-
ST: What do you think of John's decision not to play on the current tour... I suppose, really everyone has a comment on it...
PF: Well really that is his decision which I respect...but what I think a lot of people donft realise is how hard Freddie's death hit John...
ST: And, from a fans point of view, it seems that John and Freddie were quite close as were Brian and Roger...
PF: Yes yes they were... In the beginning Freddie just took John under his arm... He didn't want anything to happen to him... And as it's already be said elsewhere Freddie WAS going to be a star regardless... That was a given...And he just wanted to protect John from the extremes he was getting himself into...and they were very good friends...
ST: But it must also be a big decision for someone that has been on the world stage for so long to say "Right that's it...no more!"
PF: Yes indeed but I think it's a decision that needs respecting...
ST: Ohh definitely...
PF: But like I say I think Freddie's death has really affected John...Well the way I see it... But I could be very wrong... But Queen were 4 people...And one of them has gone and is never coming back... It will never be the same and maybe that's what John liked...He liked that formula of the four of them...I mean to the best of my knowledge he is still involved in the decision making and the behind the scenes aspects and all that sort of thing...I just don't think his heart is in the music at the moment...Maybe he will come back......Who knows! ... And I respect him for that and as long as he is happy...
ST: Couldn't agree more
PF: And one thing Freddie proved, to me, is that you have to enjoy your life...because you never know how long you've got... Nobody knows how long you've gotcAnd I certainly don't know what I will be doing in five years time...Who knows!
