Here are quotes about John:

Question: Which three words would sum up John best for you?
Answer: Ermmm, I dunno, but the funniest thing I can remember about Deacy, he didn't really smoke at all, John. We had moon-boots', have you seen moon-boots'? They're like ski-boots with big hooks on them, and you hang off the ceiling or something else and do sit-ups' wearing them. I couldn't do it now, but back then, I'd got Freddie into doing weights and just generally trying to build himself up a bit. Anyway, we'd put a bar across a doorway and you'd haul yourself up and hook these boots over. It uses reverse pressure; anyway, we rolled a couple of the hugest roll-ups you'll have ever seen. We put all sorts of stuff in these things, he smoked one of these and we put the boots on him and hung him upside down on this bar. So there he was with the earphones on, because he used to like listening to music all the time, hanging upside down, smoking, and reading a book.
Question: Did Freddie ever give you a nick name, if so what was it?
Answer: Freddie used to give people what he'd refer to as camp names. In my case I was Gemma', named after the actress Gemma Jones. Joe Fannelli was called Liza', after Liza Minnelli; Brian May was called Maggie', after the Rod Stewart song Maggie May". Roger was Elizabeth', after Elizabeth Taylor. Oh, and Deacy was Belisha', after a traffic light, cos he couldn't find any other famous name to go with Deacon, so he named him Belisha', after a Belisha Beacon!
